Metabolic Conditioning

Metabolic conditioning, also known as MetCon

is a method of training that involves

a very high work rate, using exercises

designed to burn more calories during

your workout and maximize calories

burned after your workout, or your afterburn.

In other words, these are vigorous,

high intensity circuit-type workouts

that often involve challenging total body,

compound exercises and very short recovery intervals.

High Intensity Circuit Training (HICT)

 is a method of training that involves

combining both cardio and resistance

training in the same workout, alternating

upper and lower body moves as well

as high intensity and lower intensity

exercises. The idea is a challenging,

total body routine that offers

better weight loss results in less time.

TABATA

The basis of Tabata training is four minutes  of intense interval training/circuit training. 

A good example is jump squats for 20 seconds and then resting for 10 seconds - followed by 20 seconds jumping jacks . Repeat for a total of 8 sets. 

A study by Japanese scientist  Dr Tabata

who founded Tabata training, found that

high intensity training improved VO2 max 

(or your maximal oxygen consumption)

by about 14%, while anaerobic capacity

improved by 28%. These effects will help you shed

those extra pounds of fat, while also building lean muscle.
